The Transylvanian city of Sibiu’s year as a European Capital of Culture has seen Estenest organize Black & White Music, the only event of the kind held in recent Romania.  Locals and tourists could watch five cult German silent movies: Metropolis (d. Fritz Lang, 1926), The Wildcat (d. Ernst Lubitsch, 1921), A Lost Girl’s Diary (d. G.W. Pabst, 1929) and Faust (d. Friedrich Murnau).The films were accompanied by the renown Aljoscha Zimmermann Ensemble, a trio with hundreds of live performances in famous film festivals, such as Cannes, Berlin, New York, Sydney, Montreal, silent film DVD recordings and televised broadcasting.

In parallel with Black & White Music, at the arthouse Arta cinema in downtown Sibiu, the Sibiu Film Fest Estenest brought together five of the best European films made in 2006: The Science of Sleep (France-Italy, d. Michel Gondry), Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (Germany-France-Spain, d. Tom Tywker), Venus (UK, d. Roger Michell), The Queen (UK-France-Italy, d. Stephen Frears) and Private Fears in Public Places (France-Italy, d. Alain Resnais).
